Fight is on to keep provincial archives
The civic leaders agreed to write Premier Ralph Klein and Community Development Minister Shirley McClellan requesting they not move the historical documents or the reading room where the public can access them. The move comes amid a study by Public Works Minister Stan Woloshyn into moving the archives to Stony Plain's vacant Westerra campus. Local politicians and historians have all complained about the possible move, pointing out that the site under review is in Woloshyn's own riding. McClellan is expected to make the final decision on whether or not to use the Stony Plain building later this year.
